When the Holidays Don’t Feel Like Joy

The holidays are here, and for many people, that’s supposed to mean joy, connection, and celebration.
But for a lot of people… it doesn’t feel that way.
For some, the holidays bring up memories of what’s been lost—people, relationships, time, or even parts of themselves. For others, it’s the pressure of expectations, financial stress, or the reminder that life doesn’t look the way they thought it would.
While everyone else seems to be celebrating, you might find yourself just trying to get through the day.
And that’s more common than people admit.
Many people spend this time of year reflecting on the past, which can lead to feelings of sadness or depression. Others focus on the uncertainty of what’s ahead, which can create anxiety. You may even find yourself feeling both at the same time—pulled between what was and what’s next.
And yet… no one really talks about that part out loud..
